Reshuffle: Punjab’s first woman shooter Avneet Kaur Sidhu became SSP of Faridkot, transferred to these three districts as well

The Punjab government late night reshuffled the postings of four police officers. The big thing is that two PPS officers are involved in this. PPS officer Avneet Kaur has been given the responsibility of Faridkot under the new posting.

The Punjab government on Monday night issued orders for posting of new SSPs in four districts. Punjab’s first Olympian shooter and Arjuna Awardee Avneet Kaur Sidhu has been appointed as SSP of Faridkot. He has been posted in place of IPS Varun Sharma. Avneet Kaur was made SP by the Punjab Government in the year 2020 by promotion from DSP.

According to Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary, Punjab Government, IPS Ravi Kumar has been appointed on the vacant post of SSP in Khanna district. The responsibility of SSP of Batala has been given to IPS Rajpal. Apart from this, PPS officer Sandeep Sharma has been entrusted with the responsibility of SBS Nagar. Under the orders of the Punjab government, the SSP (IPS) currently posted in SBS Nagar and Faridkot will have to wait for the new posting. IPS Kanwardeep Kaur and Varun Sharma will have to report to the DGP office under the new order. From there he will be given a new responsibility.

Participated in Beijing Olympics in 2008
Punjab’s first female shooter Avneet Kaur Sidhu participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was born on 30 October 1981 in Bathinda. Avneet has more than 100 medals to her name at the national and international level. Avneet also participated in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and in the year 2008, Government of India honored Avneet Kaur with Arjuna Award.

Avneet Kaur participates in 10m and 50m air rifle events. Kaur’s shooting career started in the year 2001, when she was studying at Dashmesh Girls College. He also impressed a lot with his talent from the very beginning. Within just six years, Avneet had established herself. In the 18th Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Avneet had won one gold and one silver medal. She married former Indian hockey captain Rajpal Singh.
