Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given the responsibility of implementing the scheme to provide 300 units of free electricity to the common people under his Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) A.K. Venuprasad has been handed over. Venuprasad is currently the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Powercom. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also summoned the list of those who did not pay the electricity bill in the next three days. In this, all the government and non-government defaulters have been asked to give information. He has also ordered recovery of outstanding bills from all the defaulters within 15 days. Based on this A. Venuprasad has issued a letter to Powercom directing action.
Based on the letter of the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Powercom’s CMD (Engg) Baldev Singh Saran has issued a letter to the officers of the department. The ACS has said in the letter that the Chief Minister has announced to provide 300 units of free electricity per month to all the households of Punjab from July 1, 2022. Along with this, all domestic consumers with load up to two kilowatts have also been asked to waive off the outstanding bills up to December 31, 2021.
Meter reader will measure on wrong reading
The Chief Minister has also warned the meter readers of the electricity department. It has been said in the letter that the readings of electricity meters should be taken regularly and if anywhere there is a case of wrong reading of electricity meter, then the concerned meter reader will be responsible and action will be taken against them. He instructed not to harass any consumer due to wrong meter reading.
