The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently released its new report, in which information has been given about the speed and number of subscribers of the wireless network of all the companies. According to TRAI, in February 2022, Reliance Jio has won 4G download speed, but in terms of customers, Jio has also suffered this time. According to the TRAI report, 36.6 lakh customers left Jio in February 2022, while Airtel has benefited a lot compared to Jio.
Heavy loss to Jio and Vodafone
According to TRAI data, the number of telecom subscribers has come down to 116.60 crore in February. Jio and Vodafone Idea (VI) have suffered a lot in this period. The number of telecom subscribers in the country stood at 116.60 million in February as against 116.94 million at the end of January 2022. February was the third consecutive month when Reliance Jio has suffered a loss in terms of customers. In February, the number of Jio subscribers stood at 40.27 million, which is 36.6 lakh less than in January. VI has also suffered a loss of 15.32 lakh mobile subscribers. BSNL and MTNL have lost 1.11 lakh and 5,097 subscribers respectively during this period.
Airtel adds 15.91 lakh new customers
While all the telecom companies have suffered losses in February 2022, Airtel has been the only telecom company which has benefited. In February, Airtel added 15.91 lakh new customers, after which the company’s subscriber base has reached 35.80 crore. Reliance Jio has added 2.44 lakh new subscribers to the wireline during this period.
