During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured that there would be no interference in the functioning of the police in the state. He called upon the police personnel to perform their duties with full professionalism, dedication and integrity.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore to the families of Punjab Police personnel who die in the line of duty. The Chief Minister was participating in a virtual meeting with Punjab Police personnel and officers on Wednesday using the Punjab Police Technical Platform. Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, ACS to Chief Minister A. Venuprasad, Principal Secretary (Home) Anurag Verma and DGP VK Bhavra were also present in the meeting.

Addressing over 23000 police personnel of all ranks, Mann asked them to adopt a zero tolerance policy against gangsters, drugs, terrorism, illegal mining and corruption. It is to be mentioned that 933 all ranks set up by Punjab Police at State Police Headquarters, all District Police Offices, Police Stations, Training Centres, Special Task Force (STF) Offices, SANJH Kendras, various Armed Battalions and Railway Police, Intelligence Offices through video conferencing. The police personnel of the state participated in this meeting. This is the first time in Punjab that the Chief Minister has addressed such a huge gathering of police personnel.

There will be no interference in the working of the police
The Chief Minister assured that there would be no interference in the functioning of the police in the state. He called upon the police personnel to perform their duties with full professionalism, dedication and integrity. The Chief Minister asked the police force to ensure the safety of the people in the state and take judicious action against law breakers without any coercion.

Police Welfare Fund increased to 15 crores
Taking another noteworthy decision for the welfare of Punjab Police, the Chief Minister also announced to increase the Police Welfare Fund from Rs.10 crore to Rs.15 crore from this financial year. He exhorted the police officers and personnel to contribute their best to make Punjab Police one of the best police forces of the country. He asked the police force to treat the citizens of the state with utmost honesty and respect.
