SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that the investigation has revealed that this video is a few months old and the police have also identified the main accused, who will be caught soon.

On Tuesday, after the video of selling drugs in public near Panjba Faridkot railway station went viral, the district police arrested 7 youths of Sanjay Nagar Basti here. The accused were identified as Shivam, Ravi, Deepak, Baljit Singh, Hira Singh, Amritpal Singh and Pradeep Kumar. Police have recovered 300 grams of intoxicating powder from them and action is being taken against them by registering a case in police station Kotwali.

According to the information, a day ago a video was going viral on social media with great speed, in which a person was selling drugs while sitting on a railway track. On coming to the notice of this matter, SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu made teams and got them investigated and it came to light that this video is of the railway station adjacent to Sanjay Nagar Basti.

After this, after the identification of the accused, taking action on Tuesday night, the said seven youths were overpowered with intoxicating powder from Sanjay Nagar Basti. SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that the investigation has revealed that this video is a few months old and the police have also identified the main accused, who will be caught soon.

He said that the district police has started a campaign against drug smugglers and action is being taken immediately by whatever means the police get information about the smugglers. Regarding this video too, the police have arrested the accused, acting swiftly.

Politics had also started in the state after the video of selling drugs went viral. On Wednesday, Navjot Singh Sidhu also raised questions on the Aam Aadmi Party government by sharing this video on his social media account.
