Appointment: Vivek Kumar becomes PM Modi’s personal secretary, know everything about him

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vivek Kumar has been appointed as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vivek Kumar has been appointed as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An order has been issued by the Government of India regarding his appointment on Saturday. It was informed in this that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed IFS Vivek Kumar in the Prime Minister’s Office as the Private Secretary to the PM at the level of Joint Secretary. Vivek Kumar will replace Sanjeev Kumar Singla, personal secretary to PM Modi. At the same time, Sanjeev Kumar Singla will take over as the Ambassador of India to Israel. Vivek Kumar is a 2004 batch IFS officer.

Vivek Kumar had joined the Prime Minister’s Office as Deputy Secretary in 2014 itself. He is currently the director of the PMO. Earlier Vivek Kumar was serving in the Ministry of External Affairs till 2013-14. Vivek Kumar studied chemical engineering from IIT Bombay in the year 1998-2002. After BTech, Vivek has worked as a Business Development Manager in a telecom software startup. His image is considered as the best officer in the Modi government.

It is worth noting that the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister is the senior most bureaucrat and administrative officer in the PM’s office. The principal secretary is selected from the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Foreign Service.
