Dr. Vijay Singla defeated Congress candidate and famous singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala from Mansa by 63,323 votes. Dr. Singla got 100023 votes, while Congress candidate Sidhu Moosewala got the second position with 36700 votes.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday sacked Health Minister Dr. Vijay Singla from the cabinet on charges of corruption. After the dismissal, the Anti-Corruption Cell of Punjab Police registered an FIR against Singla and his OSD Pradeep Kumar and presented them in the court, from where both have been sent on three-day remand. While going to the court, Vijay Singla gave his reaction on the whole matter.
Singla said that a conspiracy has been hatched to defame me, AAP and the government. Dr. Vijay Singla, a dentist by profession, completed his BDS education from Rajindra Medical College, Patiala. His father Keshoram Singla used to run a small grocery shop in village Bhupal Kalan, who later shifted to Mansa. About 10 years ago, Singla had joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
Became MLA after defeating Sidhu Musewala
Dr. Vijay Singla defeated Congress candidate and famous singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moosewala from Mansa by 63,323 votes. Singla was the first MLA to be inducted into the cabinet after the Mansa seat was created in 1992. Dr. Singla has assets worth more than 6 and a half crores.
Complaint reached to CM
About a week and a half ago, a complaint about Singla’s corruption reached the Chief Minister. The CM assured the complainant that he was with them. They don’t need to be afraid. Mann got it investigated secretly and got a recording of the bribe being demanded. After getting solid evidence, the CM called Dr. Singla to him and narrated the recording. After that Dr. Singla confessed his crime.
Health department can keep the value itself
After the sacking of Punjab Health Minister Vijay Singla, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann brainstormed with nine cabinet ministers. In this brainstorming meeting, many ministers advised the Chief Minister to take over the responsibility of the Ministry of Health. A consensus could not be reached on the name of any other MLA. Here on August 15, the government is going to start 75 Mohalla clinics in the state. It is discussed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself will take over the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
