A letter was issued by the Railway Board on May 20 to the General Managers of all Zonal Railways including NCR. Through the letter, 50 percent posts of non-safety category have been asked to be abolished immediately.

In the coming days in the North Central Railway (NCR) zone, more than ten thousand posts of non-safety category can be surrendered. The process of making a list of the posts to be surrendered in Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra divisions has started at the headquarters level. It is being told that on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the list of surrendered posts will be sent to the Railway Board.

In fact, on May 20, a letter was issued by the Railway Board to the General Managers of all Zonal Railways including NCR. Through the letter, 50 percent posts of non-safety category have been asked to be abolished immediately. In a letter issued by Railway Board’s Director MPP Renu Yadav, it has been said that by May 31, all zonal railways and rail production units should send the compliance report to the board by eliminating 50 percent posts.

RD Yadav, zonal general secretary of North Central Railway Men’s Union, says that 21,500 posts in NCR are of non-security category. If 50 percent of the posts are surrendered, then this figure will be above ten thousand. He said that even though the government is claiming that railways will not be privatized, but its policy is making it clear that steps have been taken towards privatization. On the other hand, it is being told that the board has also given instructions to outsource many services.

Many posts of railways will become history
It is also discussed that now after eliminating many posts including Typist, Assistant Cook, Bill Porter, Sanitary Helper, Gardener, Daftary, Carpenter, Painter, Gardner, Assistant Salesman, Catering Assistant, Wallman, send the staff working on these posts to other departments. will be given. Also, in future, the Railways will not recruit further on these posts. The board has also given instructions that the zonal railways should also identify such posts at their level, on which the staff is not being fully utilized. This category includes Time Keeper, Staff, Statistics Staff, Ticketing Staff, Security Staff, Store Khalasi and other posts.

There were 80 thousand posts in the zone of formation of NCR, now 62 thousand are left
The NCR zone was formed on April 1, 2003, when the total number of posts here was about 80 thousand. In the last 19 years, the posts here have come down to only 62 thousand. Now the board has issued a decree to surrender 50 percent of the posts of non-safety category. If this happens, then more than ten thousand posts will be reduced here.
Efforts are being made to privatize the workforce by reducing the number of employees. For this reason, the Railway Board has asked to surrender 50 percent posts of non-safety category, the mains union will not allow this to happen. There will be strong opposition to this. – DS Yadav, Divisional Minister, North Central Railway Men’s Union

Employees union has been saying from the very beginning that the central government is eager to privatize the railways at any cost. The posts will not be allowed to be surrendered. In opposition to this, a meeting of the working committee will be called and the strategy of the movement will be prepared. – RP Singh, Zonal General Secretary, North Central Railway Employees Union

Many letters have just been received from the Railway Board. A comprehensive study on all of them is going on. In the last few years, there are many such posts, which are of no use, in the last few years new activities have also started. There is no position relative to it. In such a situation, there is a churning going on as to what work should be taken from those employees who are no longer in use. This is a complete rationalization process. – Dr. Shivam Sharma, CPRO, NCR
