Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the formation of a judicial commission under the chairmanship of the sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court to investigate the murder case of singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Musewala.
After Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s intervention, Punjab DGP VK Bhavra on Monday clarified his statement and said that he never associated Sidhu Musewala with gangsters. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had directed to clarify on the statement made about Musewala during the DGP’s press conference on Sunday.
The DGP said that he has heartfelt respect for Sidhu Musewala and he is a famous artist and icon of culture of Punjab. The DGP strongly condemned the murder of Musewala and said that the investigation in the matter is on and the culprits will be arrested and brought to justice soon. The DGP further said that he never said that Moosewala is a gangster or is associated with gangsters. Claims and counter-claims are being made on social media to take responsibility for the murder of different gangster Sidhu Musewala.
Associated with Goldie Brar has taken the responsibility of this murder. All aspects of the murder will be investigated. The DGP said that the media has misrepresented his statement, while he has full respect for Moosewala.
The present judge of the High Court will investigate
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the formation of a judicial commission under the chairmanship of the sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court to investigate the murder case of singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Musewala. The Chief Minister accepted the request of the singer’s father Balkar Singh Sidhu and said that the state government would request the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court to get the matter investigated by a sitting judge. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government would ensure full cooperation with this commission of inquiry, including the involvement of any central agency like the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The Chief Minister categorically said that the government would leave no stone unturned to put the culprits of this heinous crime behind the bars. Bhagwant Mann said that he has already directed the police to conduct an immediate and result-oriented investigation into the matter. The Chief Minister categorically said that all aspects of the security cut of the singer are also being probed and if any lapse is found, the responsibility will be fixed for sure.
Expressing deep shock and grief over the tragic and untimely death of Sidhu Musewala, the Chief Minister said that the late singer was a famous face of Punjab and a symbol of culture. Bhagwant Mann paid tribute to the departed soul and said that the state government stands with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. He shared the grief with the family and prayed to the almighty to grant eternal abode to the departed soul at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Letter written to high court for investigation
Following the state government’s decision to conduct an inquiry into the murder of Sidhu Musewala by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the process was started in this regard on Monday. The Home Department of the Government of Punjab has sent a letter to the Registrar of the High Court, requesting on behalf of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to immediately bring this letter to the notice of the Chief Justice and handover the investigation of the above matter to the present Judge.
