To further strengthen the rural infrastructure in the state, the cabinet has approved the introduction of the Punjab Rural Development (Amendment) Bill-2022 in the upcoming session of the Vidhan Sabha.
The cabinet, led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved several important proposals on Tuesday, along with approving the convening of the second budget session of the 16th Punjab Legislative Assembly from June 24. The cabinet gave its approval to amend Section 3(1) of the Punjab State Legislature Members (Pension and Medical Facilities Regulation) Act, 1977, to provide one pension (without different number of terms) to the legislators of the Punjab Legislative Assembly at the new rate. (Dearness Allowance of Rs.60,000 per month, as applicable to Punjab Government pensioners) will be given as per Rs.
This amendment will change the existing system of pension, under which a pension of Rs 15,000 per month (including dearness allowance) was applicable for the first term and Rs 10,000 per month (including dearness allowance) for each subsequent term. With this amendment, the Punjab government will save about Rs 19.53 crore annually.
Punjab Rural Development (Amendment) Bill-2022 approved

This will include construction or repair of access roads to mandis and procurement centers and installation of street lights, construction and development of new markets and procurement centers and development of old mandis, kutcha phads, procurement centres, provision of drinking water supply and mandis/procurement centres. This includes improving sanitation, providing facilities equipped with rest houses/night shelters/sheds for farmers and laborers involved in procurement operations.
Gap funding to Markfed for coral procurement
The cabinet has approved a proposal to provide Rs 66.56 crore to Markfed as gap funding for procurement of summer moong crop. The government has approved the purchase of summer moong crop for the year 2022-23 on behalf of Markfed at MSP 7275 per quintal.
Exemption from stamp duty for street vendors
Giving relief to the street vendors and small shopkeepers affected due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Punjab cabinet has given exemption from stamp duty on loans / hypothecation agreements up to 50 thousand (third tranche loan) of street vendors and small shop owners under the Prime Minister’s Svanidhi Scheme. has given.
Amendment in Group A Service Rules of State Selection Commission
According to an order passed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on a 2016 petition, the Punjab cabinet has approved amendments to the State Selection Commission’s Group-A 2014 service rules and making Group B service rules.
