Punjab: Police remand of Lawrence Bishnoi extended till August 1, will be questioned in gangster Rana murder case

On July 21, the police had brought Lawrence Bishnoi on a production warrant from Hoshiarpur Jail to Malout and took seven-day remand from the court. After the remand ended on Thursday, the police again produced Bishnoi in the court and sought remand.

About two and a half years ago, in the Ranjit Singh Rana murder case of Bambiha group in Aulakh village of Malout, Sadar Malout police on Thursday produced gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Malout court. The court has extended Bishnoi’s police remand by four days.

On 22 October 2020, Ranjit Singh Rana of Bambiha Group was gunned down by three sharp shooters in village Aulakh on the Malout-Muktsar road. At that time Ranjit Rana had come to a clinic to get his pregnant wife checked up. In this case, the police started investigation by registering a case of murder against unknown people. The police have so far questioned more than six gangsters in this case.

On July 21, the police had brought Lawrence Bishnoi on a production warrant from Hoshiarpur Jail to Malout and took seven-day remand from the court. After the remand ended on Thursday, the police again produced Bishnoi in the court and sought remand. On this, Judge Dilshad Kaur extended the remand for four more days till August 1. During this, strict security arrangements were made by the police administration. DSP Malot Balkar Singh Sandhu said that the court has given four more days remand of Bishnoi. Now on August 1, Lawrence Bishnoi will be produced again in Malout court.
