There are direct flights to Canada’s Toronto and Vancouver from Delhi, which reach non-stop. The fare of these flights is generally between 50 to 70 thousand rupees. But there are three months in a year in which the rent is increased more than three times.

Students going abroad for studies are being looted fiercely due to the black marketing of air tickets. The Central and Punjab governments are sitting by giving licenses to those who rob students. The situation is that the air ticket which is available for only 50 thousand, is sold for 2.5 lakh rupees in the months of December, August and April. Actually, the whole game is being played by the mafia, in which crores of rupees are being lost, but the students of Punjab are becoming its victims.

There are direct flights to Canada’s Toronto and Vancouver from Delhi, which reach non-stop. The fare of these flights is generally between 50 to 70 thousand rupees. But there are three months in a year in which the rent is increased more than three times. In Canada, the new season begins in January, May, and September. In such a situation, students start getting influx to go to Canada.

Study visas are also given by the Canadian Embassy a few days in advance, forcing students to buy tickets at exorbitant prices in a hurry. The situation is that the ticket which is easily available for around 70 thousand, its price reaches up to 2.5 lakh rupees. Although apart from direct flights to Vancouver, Toronto, and Canada, flights from the UK, Dubai, and China also stop and go, their fare is also suddenly increased in these months.

This is how the game goes
The entire mafia is active in this game with air tickets. One-time air tickets are booked in bulk several months in advance from the flying company. If there is going to be a rush of students in August, the wholesalers book thousands of seats together in January-February itself and pay the advance to the company. In such a situation, their tickets cost less than 50 thousand rupees, but when the month of August comes, the tickets are sold for up to 2.5 lakhs and this directly affects the pockets of the parents who spend lakhs of rupees to send their children to study.

Students are forced, have to buy tickets
Visa counselor Manjeet Kaur says that whatever students do, they have to buy tickets under compulsion. Embassies and colleges open admission four months in advance, while IELTS and processing take two months. These days Canada’s study visa is also coming late, when a few days are left, then suddenly the ticket has to be bought at the asking price in compulsion.

The complaint will be sent to the Union Minister
Punjab BJP executive member Amit Taneja says it is a matter of concern. They have also received many complaints. He will soon send a complete complaint to the Union Minister in this regard so that the students can be saved from being robbed.

Action will be taken after checking
Deputy commissioner Jaspreet Singh says that we will soon check the black marketing of air tickets and action will be taken after that. The campaign for this will be started soon. It is to be known that all the agents and air ticket sellers are registered with the Punjab government and in such a situation, there is a provision for their regular checking from the government side.

Canada went with a ticket of 2 lakhs
A student from Railway Road, Jalandhar, whose classes are going to start on the 5th of September, went to Canada after buying a ticket of Rs 2 lakh. Although the price of this ticket from May to July was 50-70 thousand rupees, in August it was bought for two lakhs.
