Amidst the turmoil in the Punjab Congress, the phase of a show of strength has started. After the Sidhu camp, now the Captain Amarinder Singh faction has shown its strength. Captain Amarinder Singh was accompanied by 58 MLAs and eight ministers at the dinner party at the residence of Sports Minister Rana Gurjit Sodhi. Congress has 80 MLAs in Punjab. These include three MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party.
Enthused by the open support of the party’s high command against the opposition camp, while Captain Amarinder Singh and his supporters heaved a sigh of relief, the number of his supporters also increased. After the Punjab cabinet meeting on Thursday, Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi organized a dinner party at his residence, in which 58 MLAs and eight cabinet ministers were present besides the Chief Minister.
This has been confirmed by Raveen Thukral, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister. Rana Sodhi is considered one of the leaders closest to the Chief Minister, so the event at his residence is being seen as a show of strength by the Captain’s camp. On the other hand, three ministers involved in the opposition camp have reached Delhi on Thursday to complain to the Captain with the high command. This dinner party held at the Sports Minister’s house has sparked new discussions in the political circles of the state.
According to the numbers shown by the opposition camp at Tript Bajwa’s residence on Tuesday, 60 MLAs were with the Captain but the number has increased to 66 at Rana Sodhi’s dinner party on Thursday. That is, it is no longer possible for the opposing camp to compete with the captain at any level. At the same time, the support of the high command and in-charge of party affairs Harish Rawat has announced that the next assembly election will be fought under the leadership of Captain. After this, new enthusiasm has been filled in the Captain camp.
Meanwhile, it has been learned that during the dinner party, the Captain interacted with all the MLAs-Ministers on a personal level and also got information about their circles. Earlier on Thursday afternoon, Rana Sodhi targeted the opposition camp and advised them not to harm the party in this way. Sodhi says that the question of changing the captain does not arise and the high command has also made it clear to the opponents in this regard. He said that the high command was satisfied with the working style of the Captain. He also advised the opponents that the issues should be resolved by sitting together.
