- Haryana cadre IAS Nitin Kumar Yadav of 2000 batch will be the next Home Secretary of Chandigarh. Orders in this regard have been issued by the Union Home Ministry. He will replace Arun Kumar Gupta, whose term ended on August 31. IAS Yadav can take over his post on Monday. After his arrival, once again there will be a reshuffle of departments in the administration.
Arun Kumar Gupta’s tenure ended on 31 May itself, but the Chandigarh Administration had sought an extension of 3 months for him from the Union Home Ministry, which was approved by the Central Government, so he worked in Chandigarh till 31 August.
Now he has gone back to his native cadre Haryana. Gupta is the chairman of CITCO along with the secretary of the Chandigarh Administration Home, Law and Justice, Medical Education and Research, Water Resources, Prisons, Revenue, Science Technology, and Renewable Energy, Tourism, Local Government, Health, Police, Environment and Forest. were also taking responsibility.

On Thursday itself, the administration had handed over the responsibility of Arun Gupta’s departments to other officers. Most of the departments were assigned to Finance Secretary Vijay Namdevrao Jade. But now after the arrival of Nitin Yadav, he can be given many important posts again. IS Yadav will be the second officer in the UT administration after Dharampal, advisor to the administrator. The UT administration had recommended the name of IAS Nitin Kumar Yadav for the post of Home Secretary. The names sent by Haryana included Nitin Kumar Yadav of 2000 batch, Pankaj Agarwal of 2000 batch, and Vinay Singh of 2003 batch.
