The Chief Minister directed the officers to give due respect to the Ministers, MLAs and elected representatives. He said in strict words that during his government, corruption would have to be known from the administration and it is necessary for all the officers and employees to complete the works of the common man on a priority basis. He said that work should be done for all people irrespective of caste, creed and community so that every person gets justice.
In his first meeting with the administrative secretaries of the Punjab government, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday indicated that he was not going to have a soft or casual attitude towards the bureaucracy. He directed to give priority to public works and curb corruption seriously and made it clear that he would take action against those officers and employees who would not do the work of common people.
During the meeting, Channi said that I am soft and gentle but please do not take my humility as such that it will not let passivity go unnoticed. I will take action against those who will not work for the common people. I am happy with my modest resources, so I want to make it clear that I do not want anything from anyone except hard work. If anyone contacts you for any wrongdoing in my name then please come directly to me and let me know.
Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, who was present in the meeting, assured the Chief Minister that all the Secretaries have understood the Chief Minister’s message seriously and clearly, which he also appreciates. He also assured the Chief Minister that living up to his expectations, all the officers would not allow any negligence towards the works of the common people.
‘All departments should make a roadmap of 100 days’
Intensifying efforts to expedite the functioning of the Punjab government, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday directed the administrative secretaries of the state to prepare a 100-day roadmap for each department. He also instructed that the roadmap should be sent to the Chief Secretary, who will review them and decide the future plan.
Chief Minister Channi held a meeting with the administrative secretaries of the state after the first cabinet meeting convened on Monday with his cabinet. He emphasized that even though the government has only 4 months’ time, but he wants the administrative staff to serve the people of Punjab with full capacity. His priority is transparency in working and he will not tolerate complaints of corruption during transfers of officers and employees.
