Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh got bail on Tuesday on a surety of Rs 1 lakh in the Bikram Majithia defamation case. On Monday, a Ludhiana court had issued an arrest warrant against Sanjay Singh. Now the next hearing of this case will be on September 17.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay got bail on Tuesday in a defamation case filed by Bikram Singh Majithia in a Ludhiana court. He got bail on a surety of one lakh. Sanjay Singh was reprimanded for not appearing in spite of the court’s order.
He told the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harsimran that Monday was his grandfather’s thirteenth. For this reason, he could not appear in court. He had applied for anticipatory bail in the court, hearing this, he was granted anticipatory bail on a surety of one lakh. The next hearing on the matter will be on September 17.
On Monday, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Sanjay Singh. Let us tell you that in the year 2016 before the assembly elections while addressing a rally in Moga, AAP leader Sanjay Singh had called the leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal as drug smugglers. After this Bikram Singh Majithia filed a defamation case against him in court. In the year 2016 itself, charges were framed against Sanjay Singh. Bikram Singh Majithia was asked to get the testimony done.
MLAs Manpreet Singh Ayali, Maheshinder Grewal, and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon are witnesses. So far, 71 dates have fallen in the court in the case, out of which Sanjay Singh has appeared in the court only four times. He did not reach the court during his appearance on Monday. After this, the court had issued an order to arrest Sanjay Singh till September 17 and produce him in the court. On Tuesday, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh Lao reached the court with Lashkar.
