Cheema said in a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday that Captain Amarinder Singh had promised by taking an oath that after his government was formed in the state, he would improve the transport system by improving the condition of roadways buses, but his government is now five years old. But till now the government has not taken any step to fix the government transport system.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Harpal Singh Cheema has alleged that the Punjab government is helping the transport mafia by neglecting the roadways buses who are charging huge prices from the public. He said that if the government had been able to give proper strength to the roadways buses, it would have benefitted the common people, but by reducing the renewal and maintenance of the buses, private bus transporters are being benefited who are charging exorbitant prices from the general public.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that the roadways workers are on strike. They are making legitimate demands like adding 10,000 new buses to the government fleet of roadways buses and reinstatement of sacked employees in minor cases and the government should pay attention to it.
