Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal was vehemently opposed by farmers and hurled a shoe at his car before a rally near DAV University on Saturday. A shoe thrown by the farmers standing on the side of the road fell on the tire of the car. After this, the police took out Sukhbir’s convoy under tight security.

The farmers have warned all the political parties, including the Akali Dal, not to hold rallies, this is affecting the farmers’ movement, but the Akali Dal ignored the warnings of the farmers’ organizations. Sukhbir Singh Badal reached the rally. However, before that, a large number of farmers gathered on the Pathankot road. They raised slogans carrying black flags. Women also participated in the protest.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) spokesperson Kashmir Singh Jandiala said that when the United Kisan Morcha has stopped all parties from holding a rally, then they should not insist. Despite this, Sukhbir Badal reached the election rally. There is still time for the election. It was not even announced. In such a situation, instead of supporting the farmers agitating on the Delhi border, the leaders are rallying.

The agitated farmers said that the political parties should have at least allowed the tears of the families of the farmers killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence to dry up. The Akali Dal has forged an alliance with the BSP before the 2022 assembly elections. So Sukhbir Badal also had to address the BSP rally. Seeing this, the farmers had come to protest. The farmers said that the leaders are doing politics by going to Uttar Pradesh. Had the Akali Dal cared so much for the farmers, it would not have held political rallies.
