- After the order of the High Court in the Kotkapura firing case, the Punjab government had constituted a new SIT. The SIT questioned former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini for nearly four hours. The SIT wants to know who ordered the police to shoot in Kotkapura. The SIT had also called Paramraj Singh Umranangal for questioning but due to paucity of time, he has been called again next Monday.
In the Kotkapura police firing case, the new SIT on Monday questioned former Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini along with DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota and the then DGP Rohit Chaudhary. The SIT also called Paramraj Umranangal for questioning but asked him to appear next Monday due to the short time.
The SIT made inquiries from 11 am to 9 pm at the Punjab Police Officer Institute, Sector-32, Chandigarh. During this, Sumedha Saini was asked answers to the questions for about four hours. Tried to know who had ordered the firing and what had happened before the firing, Saini was in contact with the people at that time. After this, Iqbal Preet Sahota and Rohit Chaudhary were interrogated. The first notice was sent by the SIT to Sumedh Saini.
