After the developments in Lakhimpur, the Punjab government has announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh each to the farmer families, including the journalist who was killed there. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that Rs 50 lakh would be given by the Punjab government to the families of farmers, including journalists, who were killed in the Lakhimpur incident.
Channi said that he has taken this decision after talking to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. It is to be known that the Uttar Pradesh government had announced Rs 45-45 lakh to the families of the deceased farmers. The Uttar Pradesh government also handed over his checks to the victims. Now since the politics in Punjab has heated up after this matter, the leaders of Punjab have turned to Lakhimpur Kheri. Most of the farmers of Punjab and Haryana are currently agitating for agricultural laws. Therefore, the Congress leaders of Haryana have also decided to go to Lakhimpur to console the victims.
A similar announcement has also been made by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Baghel said that the Lakhimpur incident is heart-wrenching. Chhattisgarh is also a state of farmers. It is the job of all of us to share the misery of the farmers of Lakhimpur. 50 lakh will be given to each farmer family who has lost their members. Along with this, the Chhattisgarh government also announces giving 50 lakh rupees to the family of the slain journalist.
