The problems of common people may increase in Punjab from September 6. The reason for this is the strike by the contract employees of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC. From September 6, all these employees will be on an indefinite strike and the operation of buses will be completely stopped in the state.
Punjab Roadways and PUNBUS contract employees have decided to go on an indefinite strike from September 6 as the demand for regularization of contract employees is not accepted. All of them took this decision after the Punjab government’s cabinet meeting held on Thursday. No decision was taken in the cabinet meeting to regularize Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC contract workers. Angered by this, the contract employees will go on an indefinite strike from September 6.
Going on strike will mean that all buses of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) will be stopped operating in the state. The employees will put up a concrete march in front of the Chief Minister’s residence from September 7. They will gherao the assembly on the first day of the session.
Contract employee leaders Jasbir Singh and Gurpreet Singh said that the government has not accepted the demands of the employees. For this reason, the operation of government buses in the state will be stopped. The Punjab government will be responsible for all this chaos. Their demand is that the government should immediately confirm the contract workers, reinstate the sacked employees in small cases and add 10,000 new buses to the government fleet.
