Harpal Singh Cheema has demanded that the power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed by the previous Badal government with private power companies should be canceled during this session to save the people of Punjab from costly electricity and power mafia.

Leader of Opposition of Punjab Legislative Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema has demanded to convene the pending monsoon session of the Assembly immediately. He said that there are various issues of farmers, students, and government employees that should be resolved at the earliest and it cannot be discussed outside the House. The newly appointed Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, considering his responsibility for the farmers, should do the work of convening the House immediately.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Harpal Singh Cheema said that the heavy time of Punjab has been lost due to the internal politics of Congress. Now to compensate for this, the pending assembly session should be called at the earliest. Cheema said that the issue of farmers is of paramount importance for the whole of Punjab and the entire state wants to know what is the opinion of the new Chief Minister on the agriculture laws, and what work he wants to do to save the farmers from their impact.

Earlier, Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh had assured the opposition that the session would be called again in a few days in which all pending issues would be discussed. But even after more than 20 days have elapsed, the session has not been called.
