- The Punjab government has withdrawn its decision to sell the vaccine to private hospitals for immunization in the age group of 18 to 44. This order has been issued by IAS Vikas Garg, the state in charge of Covid Vaccine.
In Punjab, the state government has come under fire over the sale of vaccines to private hospitals. When the opposition made it an issue, the government had to change its vaccine policy. The Punjab government has withdrawn its decision to provide vaccine doses to private hospitals in the age group of 18 to 44 years. All private hospitals will have to return the remaining vaccine doses.
These allegations against the government
In Punjab, it was revealed that 20 thousand vaccines out of one lakh Covaxin vials were sold to private hospitals in the state at the rate of Rs 1,060 per dose. The government had bought these corona vaccines for Rs 400. Private hospitals were making huge profits by charging Rs 1560 on the vaccine purchased from the government.
Captain Govt. surrounded on vaccine controversy amid discord
The Captain Amarinder Singh government of Punjab had not yet recovered from the discord in the party that got embroiled in a new controversy. The opposition has made the issue of selling the vaccine to private hospitals an issue. Now the Punjab government is on the target of the Union Ministers.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur has said that the Punjab government is selling the vaccines received from the Center to private hospitals. He is not serious about vaccination. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar targeted Rahul Gandhi on this issue. Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal demanded a fair investigation of the entire matter under the supervision of the High Court.

Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu clarified the whole matter and said that he does not have control over the vaccines. They only look after treatment, testing, corona samples, and vaccination camps. These allegations will be investigated. They can also investigate the matter themselves.
455 private centers of the country on the Covin website. When the district wise list of private centers was drawn, the price of vaccine per dose was also written there.
The investigation revealed that a single dose of Covishield is being given at a minimum of Rs 1000 at about 50 centers in the country. Whereas at 30 centers the price was between Rs 1200 to 1400.
Vaccine most expensive in these states
The vaccine is the most expensive at 20 centers in nine states of the country. These 20 centers include private centers in Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
