After the instructions were not followed, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has issued an order to the DGP to reduce the security. By writing a letter to the DGP, the CM ordered to reduce his security. At the same time, the CM has asked his ministers to carry less security staff.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi made his claim to end VIP culture and establish a common man’s government as soon as he took office. The Chief Minister has issued an order to DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota to reduce the staff deployed in his security.
It is noteworthy that Channi had raised questions on the deployment of 1000 security personnel in the security of the Chief Minister in the past. Issuing a written order to the DGP on Monday, the Chief Minister said that after taking oath as Chief Minister on September 20, I had instructed the DGP to reduce the staff deployed in my security. After this, the Chief Minister again wrote a letter to the DGP on September 22 and reiterated his instructions, but no action was taken from the DGP’s side.
On Monday, in a rewritten letter, the Chief Minister said, I now order the current police chief to take immediate action to reduce the staff deployed in my security. The Chief Minister said this during a conversation with reporters in his office on Monday. He said that he is the representative of the common man and will work for the common people only. He said that he does not need excessive security, which becomes a hindrance between him and the common people.
Ministers were also asked to reduce security
Emphasizing the need to check VIP culture, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday asked his cabinet ministers to walk with minimum security personnel as he has already cut down on his security.
Presiding over the first meeting of the cabinet at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday morning, Channi said that this step would not only help in the proper utilization of additional security personnel but would also avoid unnecessary inconvenience caused to the common people in this regard.
In order to facilitate the entry of elected representatives of Sarpanches, Councilors, etc. into the departments, it was also decided in the meeting that entry cards would be issued from the respective Deputy Commissioner/SDM office and such cardholders would be sent to the Government offices of the State including both the Civil Secretariat located in Chandigarh. Entry will be allowed without restriction.
In order to give transparent and efficient governance to the people, Channi asked the ministers to work according to their ability and ability, so as to instill confidence among the general public. The Chief Minister said that now he will have to work extra hours so that his expectations can be fulfilled in giving good governance to the people.
He urged all the ministers to work tirelessly with full dedication, honesty, and commitment, so that the aspirations of the people, especially at the grassroots level, could be fulfilled while further enhancing the vision of the government.
