• Captain and his supporters are excited by the visit of state president Navjot Sidhu to meet the high command in Delhi during the visit of Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat this week and the central leadership not giving him time to meet him there.

Amidst the ongoing discord in Punjab Congress, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has started implementing the advice of the state in-charge Harish Rawat. On Friday, in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, where the atmosphere of religion and reverence was seen during the one-day special session organized to commemorate the 400th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, political activities outside the House also continued unabated. After the session ended, the Captain gave lunch to several senior leaders of the Majha region at a five-star hotel in the city and tried to quell their displeasure.

Amidst the atmosphere of factionalism in the state Congress, the Captain held discussions with Congress MPs and MLAs of the Majha region for about one and a half hours during lunch. The special feature of this lunch meeting was that once a staunch opponent of Captain Pratap Singh Bajwa, Rajya Sabha member and former President of Punjab Pradesh Congress, MP Gurjit Singh Aujla, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA Fatehjung Bajwa, Raminder Singh Amla, and some other prominent leaders were present in it.

Recently, the Punjab party in charge Harish Rawat had said during his Chandigarh visit that he has advised Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to persuade the angry ministers, MLAs of the state by talking to the leaders. This exercise of the Captain is being seen as an implementation of Rawat’s advice.

Captain camp excited by Sidhu’s neglect in Delhi
According to sources, during this, the Chief Minister discussed the political strategy with the leaders of the Majha region, as Amarinder is facing opposition from many party leaders from this region. Captain and his supporters are excited by the visit of state president Navjot Sidhu to meet the high command in Delhi during the visit of Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat this week and the central leadership not giving him time to meet him there.

Navjot Sidhu could not talk to any leader of the high command in Delhi and he waited and returned empty-handed. This has given an indication in the state Congress that the high command is not very enthusiastic about Sidhu now and Sidhu may be a victim of high command’s neglect in the coming few days.

Amarinder made a damage control strategy
On the other hand, the Captain has made a strategy of damage control for himself in these changing circumstances. It is learned that during the lunch meeting on Friday, he discussed the current situation with senior party leaders. In this regard, when information was sought from some MLAs over the phone, they refused to discuss any issue related to the dispute in this meeting.

Discussion on development
Issues related to the development of the state have been discussed in this meeting. I have solved the big issue of sugarcane farmers by talking to the government recently and a historic decision has been taken regarding the price of sugarcane. There are many more such works to be done which are in his attention and in which the interests of the people of the state are connected. Pratap Singh Bajwa, Rajya Sabha MP (Congress)

Many of the promises made by the Captain Government to the people have been fulfilled and the government is taking measures to fulfill those that are left. For this meeting was necessary.Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi Sports Minister, Punjab
