Opposition parties are attackers after the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Especially the Congress has opened a front against the UP and central government. On Thursday, the convoy of Punjab Congress leaders will leave for Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, Haryana Congress will also march from Panipat to Lakhimpur Kheri.
In protest against the Lakhimpur incident and demanding the arrest of the son of the Union Minister of State for Home, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka have now got the support of the Punjab Congress. In support of both the leaders, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu will leave for Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday. He will be accompanied by all the ministers of the Punjab government and Congress MLAs to Lakhimpur Kheri.
Punjab Congress General Secretary Pargat Singh has claimed that the UP government will be scared seeing the number of vehicles involved in the convoy. Navjot Sidhu on Wednesday held a meeting with the party’s three working presidents Sukhwinder Danny, Pawan Goyal, and Sangat Singh Giljian to decide the strategy.
General Secretary (Organisation) Pargat Singh was also present in the meeting. Pargat claimed that 10,000 vehicles would be included in the convoy going to UP. Sidhu has asked all ministers and party MLAs to assemble at Zirakpur at 10.30 am to leave for Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sidhu had announced to go to Lakhimpur Kheri by tweeting. He had tweeted that the arrest of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will not end the farmers’ fight. Punjab Congress will march till Lakhimpur if the son of Union Minister of State for Home is not arrested soon. On Monday, Sidhu along with his supporters sat on a dharna outside the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.
