Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is a frequent attacker on Captain Amarinder Singh’s government, has once again surrounded him. Sidhu raised the issue of the cancellation of costly power agreements. He said that the government should bring a law to nullify these agreements. This will make the dream of cheap electricity come true.
Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has questioned the one-day special session called by the Captain Government to commemorate the 400th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Taking a jibe at Captain Amarinder Singh on Twitter, Sidhu wrote that he appreciates the one-day session dedicated to the festival of lights, but the Chief Minister should not forget the ideology of Sarbat’s good. Issues that benefit everyone should be resolved. He said that the government should bring a law to cancel the costly power agreements.
Raising the issue of electricity, Sidhu wrote that the Punjab Government should issue an order to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission to purchase electricity at the lowest rate under the Electricity Act, 2003. This will directly save Rs 50,000 crore to the Punjab government. At the same time, people will get cheap electricity by one and a half to 2 rupees immediately.
It is noteworthy that Sidhu had earlier raised the issue of cancellation of power agreements with private companies and immediate discontinuation of fixed charges being paid to private thermal plants to buy expensive power. Sidhu, reminding the Captain of the termination law of the SYL canal, wrote that by taking a similar strict step, the government should cancel the wrong power agreement outright by bringing the Transmission of PPA Act.
So all sections can be given 300 units of free electricity: Sidhu
Sidhu has written that at this time the season of diversion of issues is going on in Punjab but his effort is to bring the Punjabis back to the issues. He wrote that if this is done, not only 300 units of free electricity will be provided to SC-OBC, BPL, and Freedom Fighters, but this facility can also be provided to the general category people. With this, the dream of providing electricity at Rs 3 per unit to domestic consumers and Rs 5 per unit to industrial consumers will also come true. Raising another important demand, Sidhu wrote that the Punjab government should waive the bills of all those people who have been sent more bills without any reason.
