An explosion took place in a house in Jandoli Road Sant Nagar near Rajpura on Saturday morning. In this, two out of 4 children of two families died while two other children were admitted to Rajindra Hospital Patiala in critical condition.
According to the information, the work of making firecrackers by a family was going on in Sant Colony located on Jandoli Road village, the elders of the house had gone to get the vaccine. In the backroom, four children of two families Manpreet Kaur (12), Pallavi (8) Gurpreet Singh (12), and Krishna (6) were playing. Suddenly there was an explosion in the room. The explosion was so strong that the roof of the house broke and cracks appeared in the walls.
When neighbors reached the spot after hearing the sound of the explosion, the four children buried under the debris were pulled out with great difficulty. Meanwhile, Manpreet Kaur (12) died on the spot while Pallavi died on reaching PGI Chandigarh. Two seriously injured Gurpreet and Krishna were referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. As soon as the information was received, SSP Patiala Dr. Sandeep Garg MLA, SP Patiala Kesar Singh, SDM Rajpura Khushdil Singh, DSP Gurbans Singh Bains, Tehsildar Ramandeep Kaur, Naib Tehsildar Rajiv Kumar, City Police Station in-charge Gurpratap Singh, besides Rajpura MLA Hardayal Singh Kamboj, Aam Aadmi Party light in-charge Nina Mittal, SAD Badal light in-charge Charanjit Singh Brar and other police officers reached the spot. According to officials, the explosion was caused by the equipment used to make firecrackers and the entire incident is being investigated.
What eyewitnesses say
Eyewitnesses Sunny, Sikandar Insa, Darshan Singh, Rakesh Kumar told us that we were working in the field nearby. Around 11 o’clock there was a loud bang. On visiting the spot, two children were buried under the rubble and two children had fallen outside the house due to the explosion. They took the injured on their motorcycles and got them admitted to the Civil Hospital in Rajpura.
SDM Khushdil Singh and DSP Rajpura Gurbans Singh Bains, who arrived with their team on the spot, said that there was information about the cylinder explosion, but in the initial investigation, it seems that the work of making firecrackers was going on here, due to which this explosion took place. . The DSP said that potash was also recovered from the spot near the pyrotechnician.

Hearing the news of her 12-year-old daughter Manpreet’s death in the blast, her mother Meena Devi Sudh Budh lost her life. She was neither speaking nor seeing anything. Her relatives kept trying to make her cry but she remained unconscious. Relatives of Meena Devi told that she had gone nearby for vaccination.
